Mad Musings On: Finale By Becca Fitzpatrick

Finale (Hush, Hush, #4)

THE BLURB:
Will love conquer all?

Nora and Patch thought their troubles were behind them. Hank is gone and they should be able to put his ugly vendetta to rest. But in Hank's absence, Nora has become the unwitting head of the Nephilim and must finish what Hank began. Which ultimately means destroying the fallen angels - destroying Patch.

Nora will never let that happen, so she and Patch make a plan: lead everyone to believe they have broken up, and work the system from the inside. Nora will convince the Nephilim that they are making a mistake in fighting the fallen angels, and Patch will find out everything he can from the opposing side. They will end this war before it can even begin.

But the best-laid plans often go awry. Nora is put through the paces in her new role and finds herself drawn to an addictive power she never anticipated.

As the battle lines are drawn, Nora and Patch must confront the differences that have always been between them and either choose to ignore them or let them destroy the love they have always fought for.

MAD MUSINGS:
Ok I confess, I'm confused..... I loved the first two books in this series sooo much, I thought Nora was just meh, but Patch was something else.  Book 3, Nora was starting to get better for me.... This one?  My thoughts about Nora was, "Gee this girl would not be a good chess player - she never thinks ahead!  She's too impulsive....' And that was immediately followed by "What on Earth does Patch see in her?"  And what on Earth happened to him in this book, anyways?  He just kind of got pushed to the wayside as we watched his so called Raison d'ĂȘtre go thorough some really obvious stuff!   There was the gratuitous kissy parts, of course.  But, unlike in the other books, he wasn't much of a guardian Angel...

At least this was a storyline that kept me guessing - there's nothing I hate more that figuring everything out for myself before it's revealed in the book.  Some of the 'surprises' in the book, I felt was too much - especially the storyline involving Vee.  I don't think that was necessary to the story at all... and the epilogue seemed kind of forced.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is that, YES I liked the book, but I'm sad because it could have been so much more.....

  1. I'm around pg 138ish and I am having a hell of a time getting through this one. I loved the first 2 but hated the 3rd. This one is redemption for the series but it isn't looking to good so far. Must finish by the end of the month.

I look forward to your thoughts when you're finished. Maybe you can put it into words better than I can :)

  2. I AGREE! I didn't really like the 3rd one either, it seemed to have gone downhill. Great review! :)
